How a Firefighter’s Need for Organization Sparked a 3D Printing Business

At the fire station, we needed a better way to keep our tools organized and secure on the truck. My crew asked me if I could whip up some custom mounts using my 3D printer to keep everything in place and easy to grab during calls.

So, I got to work designing and printing mounts that fit our gear perfectly. It made a huge difference on the truck, and before long, other firefighters wanted their own.

That’s how Northern Creations 3D got started—making practical parts for the fire department that eventually grew into gear for workshops and tool storage everywhere. Each design is tested in my home workshop before selling to make sure it works well. It’s rewarding to deliver gear that helps firefighters and makers stay organized and efficient.

  • This piece far exceeded my expectations. I don’t know much about 3D printing, but most of the items I’ve bought over the years have had a visible layer texture — lower resolution, I suppose. This one is different. The detail is incredibly fine, and the layer lines are barely noticeable unless you look very closely. It honestly looks like it was cast, not printed. The density and quality are better than anything I’ve seen before. I’m seriously impressed. Amazing job — I’d love to use this printer for all my future projects!
